To travel around Europe you would need a big bike, 650cc minimum.  I think for a decent bike you should pay around 5000 euros used.  Bikes and scooters are so popular in Spain, so it's a good place to look to buy one, however, I don't think they are much cheaper than in England.  Plus if you don't speak Spanish, it may be a bit of a struggle to organise rego, tax, insurance etc here.  Also, fuel in Europe is about the same price in England so it could be an expensive exercise - but well worth it!  I would also look at buying a bike in the UK and bringing it over on the ferry to either Spain or France.
