I am a runner but I recently haven't been able to run because my right hip joint hurts! I haven't been able to run for a month and its not getting much better. When i try to run, it feels like my joint is popping out of its socket. I stretch every night.

I'm wondering if its my IT band or bursitis == do any runners or doctors out there have any advice? I'm so scared I won't be able to run again...

  1. Overuse or repetitive stress on your body's joints may lead to the development the painful inflammation called bursitis. I don't know if this is your case ileina3. Only a medical professional can tell you for sure.

You have more than 150 bursae in your body. These small, fluid-filled sacs lubricate and cushion pressure points between your bones and the tendons and muscles near your joints. They help your joints move with ease. Bursitis occurs when a bursa becomes inflamed. When inflammation occurs, movement or pressure is painful.

Bursitis often affects the joints in your shoulders, elbows or hips.  The good news is that Bursitis pain usually goes away within a few weeks or so with proper treatment, but recurrent flare-ups of bursitis are common. I suggest you seek out medical advice and in the meantime take something that can reduce inflammation. The pain you experience can be the result of the inflammation in your hips. Antioxidants can help reduce inflammation in the body and assist in recovery after a workout. The best product for antioxidant support I know about is MaxGXL. 2. Just wait it out. Keep something warm or an icy hot thing no it to make it feel better. Call your doctor and they will know the right advise. Try not oo run too much or you may make it worse. Feel better!

  3. You will be able to run again, but the more you overdo it the more you prolong it.  Take it easy, and, if you're getting married soon, take the opportunity to rest and eat and be merry. By the time you are pleasantly plump, you will feel all better.

  4. the same thing happened to me last year. it will go away with streaching and i went to a chiropractor and that helped A LOT! in the mean time you can bike, aqua jog, or use an oliptical. good luck!

  5. Most likely it's not the hip socket but the ITBand- I've had trouble recently. I went to a sports massage therapist who really helped and taught me special exercises using a foam roller. Don't get discouraged though I know that's hard! I have heel pain now and it makes you worry that it's 'over" - you need to take time off, get to the root of the problem and begin to heal.
