I'm going to New York to celebrate my 15th birthday and I want to see a musical. I have my eye set on The Phantom of The Opera but if you know of any better shows please tell me about them and i'll check them out. Oh and I'm going in November the week of Thanksgiving ( 26 - 30) if this helps.

thanks .

  1. Wicked all the way. You get hooked to the characters right away and the songs are very well thought an extraordinary. You have to know who the characters are in The Wizard of Oz but everybody knows who they are! (dorothy, the wicked witch of the west (Elphaba) the good witch (G(a)linda, tin man, lion, scarecrow and The Wizard)

Other good musicals are Hairspray, The Color Purple, Phantom of the Opera (which I heard is great!), Legally Blonde: the Musical, Mama Mia, Cats, Chicago, and (although this isn't a play of any sort) The Blue Man Group.

  2. wicked is great! so is mamma mia! the last time i was in ny we saw hairspray and it was gr8!!! another gr8 1 is a chorus line

  3. Thanksgiving week is very crowded so get your tks now.

At 15 yrs old and never been to Broadway I would suggest the Phantom.

There are many good shows on B'Way right now, so picking one is very difficult.  If you can, listen to some of the music from the shows you think you may enjoy and that may give you your answer,

Act quickly, because it may be hard, even now, to get Tks to the best shows.

  4. Mamma Mia! It is the best Musical EVERRR! Go and see it!

  5. Definitely check out "Wicked" I know someone who went to see it and said it was a phenomenal show.

  6. i dont know if its in new york, but try wicked. google it, its basically a prequel of wizard of oz like how the wicked witch and the good witch were friends

  7. If you've never seen a show, I'd suggest seeing Phantom or Wicked. If you've seen a show before, see something different like Gypsy (it's sooo amazing, I just saw it a few weeks ago) or In The Heights (both shows have won many awards including Tony's!)

Look at playbill.com and broadway.com for info on all the shows. I use broadway.com to look at the synopsis of shows and it lets you get an idea of the show before you spend money on them.

  8. Phantom is my absolute favorite musical of all time, it is amazing!!!!! So if you haven't seen it on Braodway before, i totally recommend it. But if you have, check out Wicked for sure, because that is my second favorite, it's absollutely fantastic! Other good ones include Mamma Mia!, Hairspray, and one of my new faves, Legally Blonde: The Musical. It's alot of fun and the music is great!  : O)

    Hope I helped!

  9. While Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera are both great shows, In the Heights is currently the tony award winning for best musical on broadway. So good!

  10. I went a few months ago...The Phantom was great...some scenes took my breath away...you won't be disapointed.

However Rent(but i think it finishing soon) and Hairspray are fantastic.

I would suggest going to the information place in Time Square(it's near the Mc Donalds) and they have a listing of all plays and musicals in the district.  It was a great help to me when I went...plus they can help you out with what type of show you wanna see(drama/comedy).
