  1. writing is so your legacy lives on... once you die your writing will still exist and "bring something of someone back from the dead"

I think that there is quite alot of truth in this.  As people write everwhere not just to write books but many people write diaries to express their inner feelings.  I think this could be to say that they want to get things off of their chest before the day comes when they can no longer say i what they wanted to say.  So people may write stuff so they can be free of secrets so they can be remembered when they can no longer be seen.  And where it says about the risky trip i spose life is only as good as you make it and if your leaving behind written messages then you may be at peace in the underworld so to speak.
