I have heard of real estate agents that will only take 3 percent of the sale price. Does anyone know who this is?

Thanks

  1. RE guy is correct sir!  dont be a cheapskate now, its a buyer's market out there!   Do you understand that the first thing that most agents that are lucky enuff to be working  with a buyer (Holy Grail) look for on a listing agreement is not the bedrooms or baths or granite counters nonsense!, they check the commission being offered and show their customers just those houses starting with the highest commission being offered to the selling office!!

  2. good luck.

The commission is usually split 50/50.  If the usually commission is 6% it would be split 3%/3% - which is normal.

If you are only paying 3% total, then someone isn't getting paid.  If the split is 1.5%/1.5%, there isn't enough money to the listing agent to cover costs AND NO AGENT will show your house for only 1.5% when everyone else is paying 3% or even more.

  3. Yes - any of them if they agree to it.

It is not LAW that says they MUST get 6% of the sale commission. Just shop around until you find a realtor that will agree to take a 3% commission.

Make sure you ask them what kind of advertising they will do, whether they will do an open house, and what their cut will be if you find the buyer.
