  1. Check newspaper league tables. Make sure your son will be happy at the school. If he leaves unhappy, you might always be distant from him.

    Eton and Sevenoaks are always the ones I've heard about.

  3. Firstly, does your son want to go to boarding school in England? If he doesn't then it's not worth paying the fees. People who are miserable don't learn anything anyway and he could lose confidence.

    Can you not send him to a boarding school in your own country?

    Looking at league tables just isn't reliable. There are some schools at the top of the league tables that wouldn't suit some types of people and there are others that aren't so academic, but they are good for different kinds of people. It depends on your son's personality.

    So anyway, Eton is probably the most famous.
