I need details on the legalities of doing this. I have some money, I want to raise more and then I want to give it away to a group of people that has already been determined. I want this to be a foundation or not for profit, but I don't know which, and I haven't a clue about how to set this up. So any useful help anyone could give would be wonderful. Only serious answers please. My thought is that the money would be given through grants which this group of people would apply for through a pretty simple process. This would serve the people in my county and maybe one other county.

Thanks

  1. You probably need to contact an attorney who deals with philanthropy or possbily a governmental department that might be able to direct you to the right person or office. I would try to locate an attorney on philanthropy--google them or call around to lawyers' offices.
