i will spend 3 days in Seville, and 2 days in Granada. in between, there are 6 days where i can spend in Cadiz, Ronda, 1 or 2 good beaches, and maybe Mijas, too. Does that sounds good? If yes, how should the route be arranged? Are there other interesting places in this area??

  1. Definitely, dont go to Huelva or Gibraltar. They are nice to visit, but having only 11 days, there better things to see.

Day 1, 2 and 3 - Seville city. Visits to historical buildings, bars and nightclubs. Must: walk on the Triana side of the river and the bridge of Altozano at night (the view is gorgeous), and on the opposite dorection during daytime (best view at these times).

Day 4, 5, 6, 7, 8- Drive down towards Jerez de la Frontera. Visit the town. Maybe a wine 'bodega'. Its a beautiful city too. Drive down to the beaches. The coast area from Los caños to Tarifa is all worth visiting. (great gorgeous beaches away from the tourist-resorts). From Jerez u also have the option to drive inland to Ubrique. this is a mountain road with great views. From there u can easily go to Ronda.

U can easily do both things in about 5 days. That wont need to imply much driving if u plan the journey well.

I wouldn bother visiting Gibraltar or Algeciras, appart from the time, it is a horrible industrial area quite contaminated. A trip to Africa can be quite tempting, but id advice to dedicate an entire trip to Morocco. There are much better places there than Tanger. And ull be wasting a full day of ur precious 11 days in Andalucia!

Day 9 - Drive along the coast highway towards Malaga. I wouldnt bother with Mijas. Its too full of tourists. Tough u can stop and have a look. What I would do is stop in Nerja (quite beautiful too), and spend the night there. If u spend a day less in the area of the beaches, then, this following day could be spent on the Alpujarras: drive from Nerja to the south side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. there are a lot of little villages there to see, and its really worth it. Even more than maybe ronda which is a bit out of the way, or the beaches. It depends on what u like more: mountain or beach?

Days 10 and 11- if not, just go directly to Granada, another very beautiful city. Ull enjoy the trip independently on what u choose! Its all worth to see!

About Cordoba, yes, its very nice. With the open 'patios' inside the houses. But its very out-of-the-way, and dont think its very convenient for ur trip. Definitely u have to go back and c all ur leaving behind! :)

What to eat: In the coast, ask for fried fish, its really nice and healthy!" Inland, ask for a good pork steak or jamon. Red wine with lemon soda is quite nice. It is called Tinto Verano.

Hope u enjoy, and i helped a bit!

  2. Ronda is beautiful and it's great walking country, but it's a bit limited.

As you are staying in Sevilla why not check out the beach at Mazagon which is just south of Huelva, which is  also close to Sevilla. It is one of the finest beaches in Spain. The area around Chiclana De La  Frontera is worth a visit. That is close to Cadiz. When visiting Granada you could then go down to the coast to a quaint beach resort called Nerja. There are some great beaches and Nerja has retained some of it's old Spanish charm. The journey from Granada to Nerja via Motril is absolutely stunning.

  3. All of the places mentioned are great.  We loved Mijas and the beach at Nerja is awesome.  There are also the caves in Nerja and the view at Paradores Hotel is unbelievable.  We also went to Gibraltar on a day trip that was really fun and when we saw the continent of Africa across the straits we had to go.  A bus tour from Tarifa was easy and we spent the day in Tangier, Morocco riding camels, shopping at the casbah and eating traditional food with belly dancing and musicians.  If you want to, look at my trip plan for the Costa del Sol with photos and descriptions.  If it was me, I would spend the time at the beaches near Nerja and take a day trip to Morroco and one to Gibraltar.  Really fun days!  Enjoy your trip.  Eat the green olives--to die for!!

  5. If you are going to be there 11 days, don't miss Cordoba and the Mesquita -- it's basicaly  halfway  between Seville and Granada although a little north.  You could do Seville -- Cordoda -- Granada to the Costa Del Sol -- Ronda -- Cadiz Seville.  Ronda can be "done" in a half a day or so....

I have been all thjoses places except Cadiz (and wan t to go there someday) that's a great trip.
