I want to spruce up my wooden floors before I rent out my apt. Is that called refinishing?

I would just like them to be shiny. They're in pretty good condition--does anyone know approximately how much something like that costs? My apt. is a one bedroom--only about 500 square feet of it is wood....

Refinishing would be removing all the finish from the floor, sanding and smoothing, and then putting new finish down. A very time consuming and expensive proposition.

Now if the floors are already in good condition, you could clean them up real good with a product like Murphy's Oil Soap. And then, and only if necessary, go over the wood with a paste wax like Johnson's, and buff it up after it sets up.
