I want to start a charitable foundation, any tips on how to get started?

I have a cause already in mind but I don't know where to go from there.

Thank u for yr site.  I have a dream in my life to start a child home in urban area slum places with minimum children who are financially backward and helpless since the education gives their children a wise and to know the life's goals.

May I know the details, to start foundation/trust/social service

organisation.

Talk to an attorney.  Draft a Mission Statement.  Come up with a Name.  Ask the atty.  to file for a 501-C-3 designation. Appoint a Board of Directors.  Decide how much money you are going to place in Foundation's bank account.  Decide on the paid employees of the organization and what their duties will be.  There is more, but this is a good start.
