i want to start a charity. i am smart and want to donate books written by me(i have none yet!), full of educational material. for uneducated or undereducated kids and teens. i also knit and i want to sell my knitting to gain money to give to hameless families and under budget families that may be dealing with payment issues. but i also want to make things and give them to these families and children as well. i also want to recycle and try to get everyone else to help me recycle as well. i also want to help stop the poor treatment of animals, and help them by donating to the animal vets.i also want to make blankets for the homeless.

but i want this all in one donation place. i cant find one so i want to start one myself. how do i do this. (step by step please?)

  1. You need to focus....the IRS will ask you to state your purpose clearly and you seem to be all over the place with your charity ideas.  You would have to start several charities.  Or maybe you can start a charity called "Doing Good" and make the purpose of the organization to give people a place to do all the good they want...call it "Random Acts of Goodness" or something.  Visit this site to learn how:

  2. You will need to incorporate with non-profit status.  You will probably want to be a 501(c)(3).  You will need articles of incorporation, a mission statement, bylaws and apply to your Secretary of State.  Then you need to get a Federal Employer Identification Number which will be used when you file with the IRS as a charitable organization.  Set up your board of directors and your registered agent.  After all that is done and approved, you can start working.

Please keep in mind that going through dumpsters is a crime and not a good way to start a business.
