I want to start a GSA (g*y straight alliance ) . My school had one in the past, but the guy graduated. I have a lot of people who would support it and my counselor already said yes to it . I just want to know, what would I talk about? What would I do ? I just don't want to start one and not know what to do in it . Can anyone help?

  1. thats a nice idea, i applaud you for that

  2. You can talk about a lot of stuff, issues with kids using "f*g" and "g*y" for slang, to writing to your senator.  If your school doesn't allow it, talk to teachers about allowing trangenders and crossdressers to dress the way they want (as long as it doesn't go against the already in place dress code for those that dress as their gender).  You can do things like aids walk, posters, fliers, a website on your schools, etc.

We had a poster that had people trace their hands on it and said "We can't tell, can you?"

There's a lot you can do, just remember not to limit yourself, ;)  There's nothing wrong with hanging out and chatting either

    Haha, hoped I help some,

  3. well, you can start by talking about the importance of such groups. you have national coming out day in october. you can do some voulenteer work (my GSA went to a soup kitchen to help out). you can talk about the upcoming election! talk about how g*y republicans are backing McCain. there are endless things to talk about.

my GSA even went back to our local middle school, and we had a sit-down with the faculty about issues that we all had when we were there.

    good luck!

  4. Gee, I was the chairman of the Student Christian association; and deep in the closet, when I was in Highschool.

    How different is that?

  5. And when are you going to study?

  6. you could talk about the social barriers between the orientations and try to figure why people are not acceptive to it like some others are. There is a lot to be said, you could also talk about when and how you knew you were g*y/straight whatever. You could talk about just school and how your day to day activities are different, etc. And congrats for doing this! :) now I'm thinking about doing the same!
