  1. I use to be in auto detail and paint work but got sick of the shop expenses, employees and such. Knew if I cut all that out, I could make more money yet work less hours. So I took a Chevy Blazer and converted the back into a mobile rolling mini body shop with air compressor and all. This then allowed me to paint all the small things on a car from bumpers, trim, moldings, mirrors, door handles, etc. As well take care of scratches, chips and nicks. Just traveled from car dealer to car dealer or to retail homes. Plug in and I stood at my office.

For you, it would not be that different except you have 2 routes you could do as mobile or even offer both.

    1. Set yourself up in a nice triple fold out make up case (like a paramedics box). Have all you need set up and organized for say 20 piercings from that box before you have to restock. Or like 1.5 days worth of clients to ensure any busy days are covered.

Then just use the case to travel to offices, homes and such to perform your job. This greatly cuts almost all over head out as the customers location is now your overhead. You can drive whatever car you want as well as the case will fit into any trunk.

    2. Since gas is up and truck/suv/van sales are way down. And being mobile and to hold 2 people, a van would be needed. I would get a plain new van (cheapest this way) and then shop online for a few van accessories. Like walls, medical tables or whatever you want. You can even hook up an inverter to the battery and have electric power in the van without the van plugged into anything. Just would have to run the van is all. And on a hot day the AC would be wanted anyways.

But set up the van as a mini work area. Make it clean, stream line, simple with say a curtain splitting the driving and back areas. Then have a sticker/vinyl/sign lettering company sticker the van all up as a rolling billboard. And don't do just words or such but go for one of those large picture wraps. That way its an attention getter.

You then can just drive to concerts, ball games, local stores, where ever you wish. Just park, put a sign outside the van or open a door. You are in business.

Doing what I do, paint work. Most in my field drive junked up trucks, dirty shorts and shirts. Have paint all splattered all over the truck. Where I wear a nice clean polo shirt, clean shorts, my SUV is always clean and the back area is clean, organized and 90% of stuff is out of sight. This is my edge, by being different. And that difference has filled my pockets for 11 yrs now and escalated me to the top of this field.

So what I am saying is.... don't do what others do.... be the odd man out, be different. It can pay off well.
