I am upstate NY and there is not a lot of help for people who are facing evictions.. The landlords take full advantage and most people are evicted from their homes before they have a chance to find a new place. Some people lose everything, as they are scared of the landlord.

There is no help in upstate ny for tenants.

I will like to set it up so I can help financially in order for them to secure a new place. Furniture help will be given, plus vouchers for food, we will also have food pantry, plus other things.

Anyone can lose their home, I honestly believe that if people have the money, they will pay their rent, and sometimes a little help is all these people need.

  1. The Nonprofit FAQs (http://www.nonprofits.org), now hosted at IdeaList, will give you information on all the paperwork you will need to file and administrative tasks you will have to go through in order to form a nonprofit. There are also tips on recruiting a board of directors.

But first, you need to get a very impassioned group of people together who support your idea, you need to get letters of endorsement from existing organizations saying this program is needed (this can include churches), and you need to have data that shows your target group is in need whatever service it is that you want to provide and that they are not served otherwise.

  2. First of all, you have to write a grant for the money you need or find someone who can help you with that.  Then you have to have a plan on how you are going to replace the original seed money to get you started.  Once this is done, you have to find volunteer staff, office space, equipment, telephone service and all that goes in to establishing a business.  Once you have all of this established and your grant money comes in, you are set to go.
