  1. This depends just a little bit on WHERE IN THE WORLD you are.  

    Start by joining an existing sailing club near you.  Go check out a few and find out which one you feel most comfortable in. Some have trial memberships and some have guest status so if you are sailing with or on Mr X's boat you can go a few times as his gust.

    Before you start a sailing club it would be good to have been a member of a few first.  Then you would know the good and bad things, what to do and not to do.

    Your national sailing body will have all the details. You will know who they are if you have been out racing in sailing boats.  

    Almost all good sailing clubs are organized around local sailboat racing.  So start by joining your local racing fleet, either as a competitor, or crew, or as helper on the start or rescue boat.
