  1. Look around and see what other taxi companies are using and what thier fares are and make sure all your cars are duel fuel..good luck.

  2. You should stick to what the police use in your area.  Crown Victorias get about 500,000 miles before they are shot, and Imapalas will take a good beating for about 3 years but will never make it to that mileage.  Taurus cars are cheap enough to buy 3 or 4 at a time, but don't make good taxis because they are so fragile.  I think the best minivan for a cab is the Ford Windstar or the new Freestar, but would only suggest a van if you have large groups of people.  Parts are a little more expensive, as is labor, but if all your fares are 5+ then you will be sorry you got sedans.  If you use police cars the parts will be plentiful and you can buy the cars cheap after they get done with them.

You are going to have to check with your county and city about rates, if they have ordinances for taxicabs then bet there is a rate schedule in it, too.  For suggestions: You can charge an hourly flat rate (anywhere in the county for like $30 an hour), meter them up at $1.75/mile with a $2.00 entry fee,  draw zone lines onto a map of your county and charge depending on how many zones are crossed over during the trip.  The average taxi rate in the US is $1.85/mile, $18.00/hour waiting time (like at the liquor stores, or a run into the Wal-Mart).  You will have to decide which is right for you.

    Best Vehicles:

    Ford Crown Victoria (durable)

Chevrolet Impala (durable, and inexpensive if its a few years old)

Ford Taurus (the wagon model holds lots of people and their stuff, but some transmission issues)

Ford Windstar (you will be having transmission problems though)

Chevrolet Venture or equivalent (the head gaskets are an issue, and will blow after about 130,000 miles guaranteed)

Chevrolet Lumina (quick, efficient cars for up to 3 riders and the intake manifold leaks after about 80,000 miles)

Chevrolet Caprice (this makes a great taxi, but they stopped making them in 1998. If you can find a few cheap jump on them)

Unless you buy new or lease, you will experience drivability problems.  Stay on the cabs, check the fluids daily!  You will have to decide the lesser of the evils when you pick out which cars to buy.

  3. ford crown Vic., any Minny van, Nissan altimas, Toyota Carola, Chevy impala,
