Question:

I want to start babysitting...

I really want to start babysitting because I want to earn my own money to take some burden off my parents. I'm not certified in any way, but I can take a two day babysitting class from the Red Cross on August 20th and 20st.

I want to make flyer's, but I have no idea what to say on them. I don't have ANY experience with kids (I like them, but no experience), I don't have references, and I don't know anybody who needs a babysitter. But I am a very responsible student, straight A's, and I am going into 8th grade this year.

So anyone know what I should put on the flyer? Should I stick the flyer into mailboxes or around the area? How much should I charge? Help please?

  1. I babysit sometimes and I don't have a certicicate or anything. A lot of parents don't care. They may ask questions. I think that you should go around your neighborhood asking or your schoo. You can say something like....

Hey do you want to go out on a lovely night alone with your husband/wife but can't because you have kids???

Well no problem thats why I'm here.

I have a certified blah blah..(somethin like that)

And I go for cheaper than many others..say like 8 an hour

    hope this helps ;)

  2. Taking the Red Cross class is a great first step. If you don't have experience, I'd start by working with older kids, 4-6 yrs. Ask if you can put up bulletins at local churches and day care centers.

You can make up flyers, or make business cards, using basic clip art images. On the flyer you can mention the class, your grades, and maybe cut a deal to your first couple clients- they get a bright, dependable sitter for a lower than normal rate while you get a feel for it. Keep the business cards with you for chance meetings with busy parents! If you need references, ask a teacher if they'd be willing to vouch for you. Teachers are also a great way to get business. My dad was a high school teacher, and several of his students sat for me.

Whatever you do, DO NOT put the flyer in mailboxes! It is illegal and you could get a nasty call from the post office!

    Good luck!!

  3. if i were you i wouldnt do flyers,

id look in the local newspaper in the classifieds area

for people who want a babysitter,

i babysit my moms friends twins and they pay me

7 dollars an hour which is pretty good,

    their 6 years old each.

dont put flyer's in mail boxes because those are for mail only.

well i dont really have anything else to say,

    but good luck :)

  4. im in the exact same spot as you.but i recomend not doing flyers unless youre in a safe neighborhood.you can always start volunteering for things at your church or elementary school if you have a sibling and become friends with little kids so they ask their parents if you can come over(which means $$).hope this helped.=]
