I want to start barrel racing/gaming in general?

Hey there, so I've been riding H/J for a while, I've just stopped my riding lessons there, and I plan on getting back very soon. I really want to start Barrel racing/gaming in general. But I don't know where to start. ANy tips?

Also where is the best place to start looking for a stable? Thanks!

get a good trainer, and that's about it. start slow, work your way up. when in your first shows (like first 1/2 year or so), don't try to go fast or push your horse- your horse won't be able to go near as fast as the seasoned horses, and i'm sure that some people will laugh at you. i know i kinda giggle when a beginner gamer tries to push her horse.

to find a stable/ barn, put an ad in the local paper, on http://www.craigslist.com, and post flyers at shows and tack/ feed stores.

the best way to start is by geting books on gaming or barrel racing. if you want to game just follow your heart and you will get there!! there are some great movies out there about barrel racing!!have fun and keep your head up

If you live in or near Minnesota, check out www.wsca.org. It's the website for the Western Saddle Club Association, the association that I show in. They are open shows, either just pleasure, just gaming, or pleasure (morning) and gaming (afternoon).
