I asked a question on here about breeding crickets and got an amazing response. the only thing I didn't get was where to get my starting group of crickets? the ones from petstores (both local petshops and petco/petsmart) seem to be in poor health, only suitable as feeders. should I order them online direct from a supplier? will they be better that way?

thanks

  1. Well when i was a leopard gecko breeder i would usually order a 1000 adult crickets and put them all in large cricket containers. Put roughly 100 females (the biggest bulky ones) with around 20 males and use roughly around 6 containers. All the excess or week crickets gradually feed off for the next month or so. For the females make a 5 inch sand container for them to lay there eggs inside and then after a week put the egg filled box in a incubater of around 28 degrees. You should have babies in a few weeks.

    Hope this helps
