I agree with all of the answers so far.  Go out and conserve yourself or make your own energy and you will know you are making a difference.  It can be as simple as riding a bike for short trips.  Or a elaborate as installing a solar system or wind turbine.

With peak oil looming, living our current lifestyle is not going to be sustainable, even with "green" energy. Going carbon neatral won't help but reducing your carbon output and living in moderation will.

Dude, that's the biggest scam going.  All that money you spend on "carbon credits" goes to pay for the fuel for Al Gore to jet around the country.

Spend the money making the place you live more energy efficient.  Not only will you use less energy but you'll save money too, savings which you can use to do something else energy efficient.

OR... you might try actually changing your lifestyle. Build a solar  water heater. Generate your own electricity. Insulate your home. Convert your car to use a renewable fuel.

Replace a tungsten bulb with a fluorescent for gosh sakes!!!
