I want to start my own landscaping business.....?

Brandon, if you want to learn to paint you would go to a painter right?  If you want to start a landscaping business then I would go to a Nursery where they grow their own trees etc.  Look in the yellow pages and tell them what you want and I will bet they will hire you.  God Bless

advertising is the most important thing....get flyers printed (you can do it cheap) put out craigslist ads, myspace bulletins...etc. Then every time you get a job remind the customer to tell their friends because word of mouth is the most comforting form of advertisement.

You got to do some marketing!  Place ads in local public flyers, hang up signs in local places, and do some jobs so well that the word of mouth on your biz is good and gets you referrals.  Do some cold calls, look for yards that need attention, and then knock on the door and sell, sell, sell!

You are going to want to advertise full force. Try doing some of the things that I have listed below..

1. Get a website going. For a good host try the following http://www.tahoewebservice.com

2. Place ads in your local newspaper

3. Place ads on craigs list http//www.craigslist.com (alwasy refer people back to your website for more information)

4. Speak with businesses that sale plants, flowers, etc in your area and see if you can post flyers for landscape

5. I see one person listed myspace as a place to advertise.. Save you time with this as most myspace users are young and do not own homes

6. offer a program telling people if they send you a customer they will get a discount

7. GO GREEN in this day of age, most people are looking for some echo places that want to save the earth, so foucs on natural products, natural landscape, etc.

8. Get word out to friends and family as they are going to be your best source of advertisement. They will pass the word around about you.

9. Make business cards... Hand them out to every person you know.

10. Speak with places that manage apartments or property management as they are always looking for poeple to work the landscape for appartments.

11. offer senior discounts for landscape doing this will allow you to visit senior centers in your area as they are always looking for people to help members.

This list can go on and on.. Be creative when speaking with customers (maybe offer a free plant or two) and you will be busy in no time..

Print up flyers  on your computer and go door to door, put an add in local paper. If you do good work at at a fair price customers will recomend you to others. I was a landscaper many years ago and soon had so many  customers I had to turn down some.
