I was thinking about this kind of thing the other day.  There are a couple of vacant lots not far from where I live.  We are about 30 minutes outside of the city (Birmingham, Alabama).  I thought about trying to find out what it would take to lease one of the lots, if not buy it outright and maybe rent a couple of 15 passenger vans and start a park and ride service.

#1  It will provide a very valuable service, and based on my own gas prices, you could easily ask $200 a month per person.  It costs almost $100 to park downtown and I pay way more than $100 in fuel costs.  

#2 I think that the more and more gas prices go up, the more lucrative a business venture something like this might be.
