  1. There's just one thing I can suggest....

    Get more money.

$70 won't get you started on anything good, if you are talking about photography as a form of art, as opposed to a family album snapshotting...

For at least somewhat decent p&s camera that has some manual controls you will need $150-200...

For the cheapest SLR - $450-500

    That's for digital of course.

If you want to go ahead and start the old way, with film, you can get it for a bit less... Maybe you'll even find yourself a decent used film SLR kit for under $150... But do you really want to be shooting film, when everyone goes digital? Especially since you have to buy the actual film, so after a while you may realize, that it wasn't much of a saving after all.... Plus no instant feedback - if you spoiled a shot, you'll only know after you've developed a roll... And if you get the settings wrong for a whole day of shooting... Well... you'll find out when it's too late.

So in your price range, I can hardly suggest anything.

The cheapest decent camera of reputable brand and with some manual controls is probably Canon A590 at $150, which is more than double your budget.

If you get one with no manual controls (Canon A470 for $100), well - it's still over your set limit, plus you won't start photography with that. Snapshotting - maybe.....

    LEM.

  2. Sure, but you may have more choices at $100

Look on craigslist in a city near you .

    Some samples in my area.

  3. canon powershot sd1000.

ive had 5 cameras in the past year.

this one definitely has the best quality by far.

    and its pretty cheap.

    i wouldnt say under $70.

but its still a decent price at walmart or something.
