i m a 15 year old and for my birthday (in a week) i m getting a guitar, but i dont know which one. Acoustic, electric, bass, etc. I m into rock music and also this will be my first time, i might take classes if i can afford it. if not i m planning on learning through internet, books, and dvds. like i said i m more into rock and here is clips of some guitar playing that i want to learn their style http://youtube.com/watch?v=bWlwa2l8RSM&feature=PlayList&p=70DDDCC87A76234B&index=6 (ignore the music, just listen to the guitar) so ya. this is the type i m into and i want to learn this style so i was hoping if you can help me find a guitar that will help me learn this style of music. and if i have to start with acoustic and move on to guitar i can do that.

  1. When playing rock the sound quailty comes 50% from the guitar player 25% from the distortion and 25% from the guitar. The guitar won't help you learn there style only you can do that if you want a guitar like the one they have but for less Get an Epiphone Les Paul special starter pack but the best thing is to go into guitar center and play the instruments for yourself so you can find the one you like. Then get edumacated in music. Get whatever guitar you want rather it be electric or acoustic doesn't matter. If you get the one you like your more likily to pick it up and play it. Remember the guitar and the distrotion only handle half of it the rest is all on you.

The lady above is right there using a Gibson Les paul(which run for no less than $800 bucks just in case you were planning on buying one)

Finally if you want to learn there music look up the tabs at www.ultimate-guitar.com but most likely since your a beginner you won't know whats going on so i'm going to suggest you get some guitar books. May i suggest CVLS they have great books with audio cds so you that you know if your playing right. Check them out at www.cvls.com

Hope that helps feel free to contact me if you have questions

  2. first identify how much coin you have to spend.  next go shopping.  try craigs list, e-bay and most important, GUITAR CENTER.  Everyone checks out guitar center.  Get an acoustic that you can take everywhere you go and one you don't mind if get's lost or stolen.  Remember it is the person that makes the guitar not the guitar that makes the person.  Be courageous too, part of that feeling you are looking for comes from your dedication and lack of fear of an audience.  Play the streets.  Someone might drop you a fifty understanding you have passion.  So much comes out through musi.  NEVER GIVE UP.

  3. A really good starter guitar would be a fender stratocaster...they also make an acoustic version of the strat that is just awesome.      The lead guitarist was playing a gibson les paul     and the rythym guitar looked like either an ESP  or a Jackson/Charvel  (it was kinda hard to tell)     youtube has some really great guitar lessons! =)      good luck sweetie

  4. Try this web site for free tuition on Guitar playing, it covers electric and acoustic guitar chords. It is excellent and hads everything you want and need to learn for guitar..

    http://www.chordbook.com/guitarchords.ph...

    Good luck.

  5. start w/acoustic.Why? Bec develop hand strength, better position, dexterity, etc. learn basics acoustic then electric is a breeze. Get cheapo acoustic, steel string, look in pawn/consignment/craigslist,etc. if it doesn't take you're not out $$. Check out 'how to tao of folk" & "Learning music online" good sites, will take you through basics how to hold, practice, tune, hold pick, strum, etc. check around your area bulletin boards, git shops( git center, etc) for others who play acoustic and go see them/watch them(hands) play..they might help out or give direction. Most important: keep at it every day, frustrating as h**l but all of a sudden you'll"get it" Don't quite before the miracle happens..used $ 100  should do it

  6. if u are getting a guitar and if u are truly determined than i reccomend either a standard HSS Fender Stratrocaster or a epiphone sg-310. if u are just kind of into it than u should get a fender squier because its cheap and it comes with an amp and a gig bag
