I want to start reading Spawn comics, where should I start?

Also please explain one-shots, what they are, which comics they are, spin offs, all the spawn series' and what your personal favourite is. Thanks.

You should start with a good comic, so maybe one not called Spawn.

Spawn was created to make Todd MacFarlane rich, which it did. The character and his book are pretty crappy, really.

spawn and batman had a crossover in the mid ninties, Image released a book which was superior in art(and in every other way in my opinion) and DC Released the war devil book which has a good story, one shots are just single story issues, that do not continue....you should start from spawn #1.... you can pick up on all the back issues by getting them in these paperback editions..... my favorite are the first 18-20 issues
