I want to start snowboarding what equipment and how much money do i need to start?

I am going to learn at snow dome in tamworth. So want to know how much equipment will cost me and even for clothes and if you know any cheap sites. cheers

well, a snowboard would cost around 500 to 1500 bucks (the ones that are really cheap sucks XP) and a sutible helmet for snowboarding would be about 100, snowboarding boots would be 300 (i think they come seperatly from the boards, never bought a board with boots) the jackets and suit stuffs would all equal to 200 (jacket 75, gloves 25, pants 75, gogles 15-25, and a hat is optional, but you'll look cool with one XD) and the lessons would vary, wherever you go....

Wow, cool. The equipment, you need at least 400- 800 dollars. The snowboard itself may cost more than that, but your a beginner. But beginner people can still get cool stuff. Good decent snowboards that have decent brand names like LTD, lamar, etc, cost around 200-300. Good ones cost like 500 and up. The bindings can cost below $200, and you can get pretty good ones, get Flow bindings, they are so much easier to put your foot in, and out. The boots, you can purchase for under $300, depending on the brand, and what it features. My recommendation is the Boa lacing boots, they are awesome, and fast, you can be out in seconds, while your friends are still tying their shoe laces,lol. Cheap sites, try the house, they have really good cheap stuff, ebay, they sell complete packages for under 500 dollars, good brands, and stuff too. Clothes, jackets would cost you the most. My jacket, a burton costed like $200, but they have good ones for under that price too. North Face, Burton, Analog, DC, all good brands. Goggles, they are pretty expensive as well, you can get a cheap one for $40, and the high end ones go up to 150. The fleece is pretty cheap, you can go anywhere and by it for a cheap price. Handwarmers you can get for like $6

I would suggest buying clothes, gloves, helmet ($300 - $500) and doing a season rental on the board / binding boots ($200) for your first season.

Get really good pants, jacket and gloves (Burton, 686, Dakine, North Face, etc) and you will enjoy riding a lot more - plus they will last compared to low quality clothing. At the very least, get the high end Columbia Titanimum clothing - not expensie and it seems to stand up to my kids' abuse.

I recommend renting equipment if you are just starting. It'll give you a chance to try the sport out and see which kind of equipment you like the best.
