  1. A good clean Youth Hostel would be  good solution for you

  2. I stayed at this place twice, the Maurice Ravel one:

Cheap (19 to 38 euros including breakfast) and clean.

You won't be able to check in as early as 6:00 am but you can leave your luggage there while you are visiting Paris. Although not very central it is conveniently located near metro line 1. The other center is near metro line 7, which is good too.

If you want something more central the cheapest hotels I know of are:

http://site.voila.fr/hotel-stella (double-check the price when you contact them as they don't update their site regularly) and

    http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/hotel/ho...

  3. I would recommend that you try a hostel.  As long as you know what to avoid when considering hostels, you'll be perfectly safe.  Do some research and you can find more information and sometimes even specifics.  I think they normally run about 25 EUR per night.

  4. Unless you stay in a Youth Hostel, the cheapest places I've found in Paris are about 70€ and up.  That means you haven't even enough to cover lodging, much less food, museum/monument entrance fees, souvenirs, or ground travel.

Of course, there's always couch surfing, if you can find a couch, or possibly a travel partner.

  5. Check out http://www.hotelresidencedupalais.com/in...

It's a small pension-type hotel next to Luxembourg Gardens and about 10 minutes walk from Notre Dame. I stayed there last summer and loved it. Hardwood floors, sturdy, antique-looking furniture, and balcony overlooking the entrance to the Gardens. There was a free breakfast in the mornings and a private shower in the room (toilet down the hall). The owner speaks very good English, and let us stay one night for free (on an extra mattress in the laundry room) because we showed up at 2am the night before we were supposed to get there. I think I paid 53 euros for a double room. I would highly recommend this hotel.

  6. Go to a youth hostel- The BVJ in the 5th on Rue Bernadins is good.
