Question:

I want to stop certain contacts from appearing on my screen - Windows Live Messenger?

I'm breaking up with someone while trying to remain friends...it's complicated.

Anyway, I would really like it if I could adjust my MSN so that just this one person won't appear at the bottom right of my screen, signing on, and to not appear on my contact list.

I don't want to block them, as I want them to be able to talk to me on MSN if they want to- I just don't want to see them on my screen.

If there is anything I can do please help!

Thanks :)

  1. Hi

yeah i recommend getting msn plus for this if you still want to see the popups for other people coming online

what you should do is organise your contacts into groups, have the ones you like to talk to in a group at the top and put this contact in their own group at the bottom of your list (name is Z or something so it stays at the bottom) and always keep that group minimised so you don't see it

then what you can do is go into msn tools, options, alerts and sounds and unclick 'display alert when contact comes online' and the sound option too. it will delete the popups for all contacts but this is when msn plus comes in handy :) you can go into msn plus and it will allow you to customize notifications for certain people so you can have popups for only the people you want to see coming online :)

    hope this helped!

  2. ok ,in your windowslive messenger sign in click on your screenname then 'options' and go to 'alerts and sounds' and uchecked the one thats says 'display alerts when a contact come online' and apply and ok.

    good luck.

  3. I don't think it's possible to just stop seeing the alert when that 1 particular person signs in. I think the only thing you can do is delete that person and just talk to him/her on email.
