Question:

I want to stop eating/buying meat. What kind of meatless dishes are good?

I will probably still eat fish, but think I will stray away from animals who are treated bad.

I think broccoli casserole would be a good one. Any other ideas?

  1. Many use processed veggie meat-type items to make the transition. Vegetarian Plus really makes some delicious items.

    But try to use these short term. Gravitate over to as much unprocessed homemade foods as possible.

    Don't make the mistake of replacing your daily protein intake with cheese. You'll get sick a lot and gain weight.

    As for good lunches for your work out schedule, learn to cook with seitan. It's a "wheat meat."  Made from Vital Wheat Gluten. You can buy it or make it at home.

    I always have a few Primal Strips in my bag for emergency munching. I prefer the setain over the tofu versions.

    Buy some veggie recipe books or borrow some from your library and copy a few that suit your taste buds.

    I love Vegan Lunchbox blog. It's a mom's blog on what she feeds her boy. But I double up and use the same things myself. I bought her cook book. It is the BOMB.

    I don't use the plastic lunchbox myself. I'm fond of stainless steel tiffin tins. I got two great sets from Angelin Home.

    The important thing is to be gentle with yourself. Transition slowly so this is a gift and not a punishment. If you crave a burger, have one. You'll find your comfort foods eventually become veggie versions.

  3. Lasagne, pizza, ... check out some new grains like quinoa. You can make tasty vegetarian chili as well. Mmm.

    Now that it is summertime, you can enjoy all kinds of delicious salads.

    If you go to a BBQ at a friend's house, most veggie burgers taste great, or try putting a big ole portabello mushroom on the grill instead of a patty. Delish!!

  5. i love eggplant parm. its pretty good, u can also try doing a eggplant lasagna. Or spaghetti with lots of vegetables , mushroom, carrots, tomatoes, brocolli, etc. or try to make manicotti, maybe cheese ravioli, u could also buy veggie meat. u could also get salmon with veggies or potatoes.some ideas

  6. Eggplant parmesan is really good. The best way to describe it is a eggplant lasagna.

    You can try buying imitation meats also.

    As a side dish, sautee spinach with whatever spices you like in olive oil. Eat it in a sandwich. It's really good also.

    There is so many choices. Try googling things.

  7. toffu, mushrooms, chick peas, nuts, and a BUNCH of other things, not eatting meat, but still eatting fish is easyyyy.

Fish are treated equally as bad as any other animal.  They are squeezed for hours in nets, then dragged out of the water.  Because of the decompression, their swim bladder ruptures, their eyes pop out, and their stomachs get pushed through their mouths.  If that doesn't kill them, they are left to suffocate.  Others are still alive when their bellies and throats are sliced open.

  12. Morningstar farms has some pretty good veggie burgers, veggie chicken patties, veggie sausage links, veggie cakes, and all kinda veggie stuff. You should try it. They even have hot dogs, corn dogs, ground beef, steak strips, chicken strips, and even snacks and breakfast foods.
