I want to strip the paint off my truck. what kind of sander should i purchase? also should it be primered

should i primer it right after? or can it sit without primer?

Regular primer will rust also. It is porous and the water will soak threw it to the metal. You need to paint right away or You can use primer sealer and it will not rust......ujn

I would think a chemical stripper would be easier than sanding.  As for sanders a D-A sander is the best.  Make sure you have a big enough compressor to use it.  Prime it as soon as possible.  If you don't the bare metal will rust.  Even if its in a garage its exposed to moisture because of humidity.

Really, are you set up with an air compressor and the primer and paint to repaint it? You should also use a room set up to bake the paint on, you don't have to take the car apart but you'll still need to bake it at a low temp to get the enamel to look anywhere near like it should.
