I want to study medicine at new york. I'm predicted A*'s in my four a level subjects. Chemisty, Physics, Maths and History. I was thinking either cambridge uni or new york. My mum moved to new york a year ago so it won't be that big a change for me.

  1. Why don't you ask your mother. she can find out everything you need.because here we can just say yes or no.

You are good student and it is very easy to get admission in medical school in new york. but even your mother live in NY still education is very expensive for students who come from other contra and this is not a short time we are talking about 6 to 8 years.

in UK you have very good schools too.

  2. Well apply to some schools and find out.  Good luck to you.

  3. I think you need to start applying to the universities now. University in the US is difference from the Uk. You have to do a 4 year degree (normal), not 3 years as they do in the UK. Your 1st year is like a foundation year. You will probably have to focus on Biology, chemistry or related BSc. I think after people apply for pre-med, and then onto medical school. A friend of mine has studied medicine in the UK and it took much less time than North America. If you don't get into the university of your choice in New York, try doing your foundation year at a community college. You will be paying international student fees (unless you are American) and the price is extreme for university education.

I don't think there will be much of a culture shock moving to New York, but I do know that the price of education and the competition to get into a good university is high.

    Good luck

PS- Are you required to sit your SATs if you are a foreign student?

  4. International students do have to take the SAT or ACT before they attend a US university. Check out the following to learn about the differences between the two tests: http://www.universitylanguage.com/guides...

Some colleges prefer one over the other, and some don't care. Check with the colleges you're thinking about attending to find out which you should take.
