I am a first year student in the medical university of Wroclaw, Poland and I want to continue to study medicine next year in one of these countries (USA, UK or Canada). Does anyone know any college where I can apply and be certain that I will be accepted? Any kind of information will be appreciated.

  1. US medical schools do not generally accept transfer students from foreign med schools.  You will need top scores on the TOEFL and MedCAT exams, top grades from a highly respected med school that offers a program comparable to the US program, and of course, you must have been tops in your undergrad institution.

Above all, you will need a great deal of money.  $35,000 a year will cover tuition at most med schools, but you also have to cover all of your living expenses, get a car, etc.  Med schools require doing rotations at various hospitals.  The hours are erratic, your schedule is tight, and you absolutely must have a car to get around.  Public transportation, where available, cannot be relied on, especially at odd hours of the night!  You should have at least $250,000 to cover all of your school expenses, living expenses, etc.  Without that, it is irrelevant whether you can get accepted into a med school.

  2. If you have the money any private university in the USA will accept you. You have to have about $35,000 for each school year. Contact the foreign student office at some schools that interest you. The University of Pittsburgh and the University of Southern California are great medical schools to consider.

In Canada, the University of British Columbia is good and may be a little cheaper.

If you do not have the money, they don't want to know you.
