I want to take 20 hours a semester. This includes during the summer as whole. Is this possible? I won't be working so school will be my main focus.

  1. Well, I believe that you need to get approval from your conselor or head of the department in which you are majoring in. It is very difficult to take 20 hours in College now. It used to be easy way back when. But if you do get to do it, don't forget to sleep, eat, and go to the restroom. lol

  2. Well most schools have a maximum of how many hours you can take a semester which is 18. You'd have to get permission from the school to take more than the maximum hours allowed and unless you have a really good gpa, they won't let you do it.

  3. Most colleges only allow you to take 15-18, and I personally think that is too much.  I wouldn't try to take any more than that.

  4. grades are important. Be advised that you might be charged the per credit tuition rate for credits taken that exceed their maximum.

    What is the hurry?

  5. yes it's possible, most schools have limits, so ask your guidance counselor or something and of course limits are there to help students but the ppl are the ones that decide, my friend took 21 credit hrs per semester after pestering the counselor for a few days or so lol

  6. I'm taking 18 and working.  Don't forget that some of your higher level courses will have labs also, which will count against your overall time to work with.  One way to think of college (and plan sucessfully) is to multiply your credit hours by 2-4 depending on your study habits and personal learning speed.  If you can listen to a lecture, not take notes, and pass a test, then 20 credit hours or more is reasonable.  If you sit through a lecture, take notes, study notes, and pass a test, you'll want to plan on 1-2 hours of studying per credit hour per week.  If you sometimes struggle to pass, 3-4 hours or more may be needed per credit hour per week.  The standard student is in the 2-3 hour range, meaning with a 20 credit hour schedule they're spending 40-60 hours a week involved with college, which is much like a full time job, but if you start to drift to 60 and beyond, you'll probably want to cut back just so you don't go crazy, and don't let yourself forget about labs.
