I want to take a GAP year and work in the UK but don't know where to start!!!

Question

I am 19 year old from Australia and will be traveling to Europe at the end of this year, Because i have a limited budget i want to work in the UK so i can get some money and travel at the same time. I know i need a working VISA and i need a job before i can get it. Can someone give me any tips to where i should start looking because i really am lost.....

I found this website which has some ideas. If you keep looking around at jobs you may find Aussies needed over there to teach english which is great for gap year students because they teach you to teach and you get good pay. Then there's the backpacking idea where you go over and work in pubs and pick fruit and veg to earn your way through the country. The best thing about working over there for a year is when you come back any money you gained from going over will become a bigger sum when changed into Aussie dollars.

I happen to be doing the same thing at the end of this year and as people have suggested to me and to you on this post, london isnt the best area to start in (lots of people, high cost housing and food) you may want to try a more country town either further north or in the south west/east that many tourists and foriegn works would try their luck in.

on the job side if your looking for hospitality work and assitance with accomidation then Dee and her great services (see the source web site) are the ones to use- she helped me out with my job ideas and my visa. plus she helps for free!!

You can probably get a working holiday visa..

LONELY PLANET publishes the best travel guides with all this information-most libraries have them.

UK loves Aussies because they are such good workers.
