  1. Wouldn't we all like $3000 from the federal government? If they have money like this to give away, I hope they have my address on file.

Government educational grants are provided on the basis of one, and only one qualification - financial need. Your financial need is determined when you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, better known as the FAFSA. Your FAFSA answers will allow the Department of Education to compute your financial need.

Regardless of your financial need, it's highly unlikely that you would receive $3000 in grants to pay for a single online computer course.

The largest of the federal educational grant programs, the Pell Grant has an ANNUAL maximum of $4731 this year, an amount that would only be awarded to a full-time student who is degree seeking, and registered for a full year of courses at an eligible financial institution.

A single one-semester course is not "degree-seeking", and is  nowhere near full-time. In fact,  even if a student was degree seeking and full-time, the maximum Pell for a single semester is just $2365.50 (which would be paid directly to the school).

I can appreciate that you'd like the government to give you some free money, but at the same time, that's taxpayer money, and I'm not sure why think that the taxpayers should be sending you to school.

I hope that helps. Good luck with your quest!
