  1. Can you learn on your own?

I would recomend you to read a book I use in my workshops "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Petersen.  Become really familiar with your camera settings and start shooting.

    Practice makes perfect!

Other than that maybe some online sites like Popphoto.com and shutterbug.com

  2. There are online photography courses all over the web. Be carefull though some of them are terrible rip off scams. A couple I would recommend would be Tony Sweet's courses. He is a fabulous photographer in Maryland who teaches online courses. He teaches classes through his website as well as at Better Photo.com. Check out the websites below.

  3. Do you own a SLR camera? If so, go here: http://www.morguefile.com/archive/classr...

It's basically an online photography lesson complete with assignments at the end of each lesson. It also has forums where you can post your work for critiques and feedback. It's a very good site, very easy to understand. And it's free....
