Question:

I want to take some t-shirts in. Can I do this at home?

I have a lot of huge t-shirts that I still like but since I've started shopping at more common stores I've become more accustom to wearing them a lot smaller with shorter sleeves, now whenever I wear the old t-shirts I feel like they make me look more overweight than I am. Is there any easy way that I can take them in myself? I have a sewing machine but I haven't been sewing for long so it makes me nervous. Any tips are welcome

  1. I really don' t know how you can take the shirts in and they look nice when you wear them.

Maybe an alternative is to make something else from the fabric in the shirts.  Cut them in to quilt squares and make a lap throw for winter, make some baby or small children's' clothing, receiving blankets, bibs, burp pads, and the small pieces left over will make great dusting cloths.

  2. If you want them 'a lot smaller', just taking them in probably isn't going to be satisfactory - you probably would need to re-cut and re-sew them (a lot of work). However, if you can decide which is your least-favorite shirt, you may want to test this procedure on it.

If this doesn't work right for you, consider either selling them at a garage sale and using your profits to buy new ones, or re-purposing them as the previous post suggested.

    Good luck.
