  1. Here a few I had bookmarked from when I taught special education. They would be great for preschool or Kindergarten aged children!

Also, your local teacher's store, WalMart, Target, etc. will have a good selection of preschool and Kindergarten prepartory books that will not only reinforce number skills, but also early literacy skills. These are usually fairly inexpensive, starting at just a few dollars. Good for you for continuing the education at home!

  2. There probably are, but why not just go to Walmart or CVS and pick up one of those booklets for about a buck.

  3. How about sitting down with him/her and playing some "games" - you draw a picture of 3 apples (or whatever) and s/he writes the number 3, or vice versa.  Small kids love tracing dotted guides - if you're trying to teach him/her how to form the numbers, draw dotted versions and show him/her how to trace over top of them.

Worksheets suck the enjoyment out of most learning, I've found!

  4. I would stay away from the worksheets and make it fun.  You could spray shaving cream on the shower wall and have your child practice number writing; this also builds hand strength because of the way the child has to hold their hand.  Some other ideas are to use finger paint, fat crayon (easy to hold), paint brushes with water...the list goes on and on.  It's not recommended to use lined paper until children are in 1st grade. The thought is that it's better to focus on one new thing at a time (number writing and staying in the lines would be two seperate concepts) especially for the little ones.
