Question:

I want to tell my father I want to be adopted...

My mom's husband has been more like a dad to me then anyone ever in my life.

And I want to know how to tell my father. He's not the nicest person (He used to abuse my mom) and I'm scared hes going to over-react. (He live over 800 miles away, but still) and he might not sign the papers.

Also, does anyone know a good daughter to father song? I like emotionless by good charlotte, but does anyone know any others?

  1. I don't think you should do anything about it. Just leave it alone. We had asked the same thing to my dad. He didn't say anything but we could tell he was hurt like h**l.. Still makes me cry to this day just thinking about it and it has been 10 years :( .. What's done is done.. My father did not have a steady job and couldn't support us.. My stepdad sent all of us brothers and sisters to colleges and now I am in law school (and he is paying for that too lol) :) .. I love them both equally.. so just don't tell your dad.. I am pretty sure that you can still be close to your stepfather without having to legally adopt you.

  3. There s a song called "Dear Father" By Sum 41

    any help

  4. I'm confused at what your asking..you don't live with your dad right because you said he lives over 800 miles away..

So whats with this "you want to be adopted'

Maybe I'm just slow but I don't think your providing us with enough details..

  5. when my 2 daughters wanted to tell their dad the same thing i had them write a letter to him so that way they could get all they wanted to say out without being interrupted or worrying that he would be mad...this way if he does get mad they were not there to see or hear it and so they were not intimidated....honey if he's not that good of a father then don't spare his feelings...this is about you and your happiness...as for a good song i really only listen to country but Brad Paisley has one call "He Didn't Have To Be" ...good luck...ps the song the girl is talking about is "I loved Her First" by Heartland but it's a song from a dad to his new son in law on the wedding day.......................PSS to the girl above the question is how to tell her dad she wants to be adopted by her step-dad...hello??

  6. If you get adopted by your step-dad, your mom may lose any child support your birth-dad may be sending.

Since your father is not around much, getting adopted is just creating a tempest in a teapot... it would only serve to satisfy your own ego-craving to spite your father.

    Leave it alone.

  7. Maybe you should write him a letter first and let him know, give him your reasoning. Either that or let your mom handle it, just tell her you need her help with it.

There's one country song something like "I had her first" Sorry i don't know any others
