  1. Check with your local or state police department. They can tell you what the laws are regarding the percentage of shade of tint on auto windows.

The reason for laws regarding tinting is, that if a police officer pulls you over, he/she has to be able to see inside the vehicle for his/her own protection. A police officer does not want to approach a vehicle that he/she cannot see into, because of the possible personal risk involved.

Put yourself in a police officer's shoes. Would you want to approach a vehicle that you cannot see what's going on inside? I wouldn't.

  2. You have to have more than 70% of light come through...that's a really light tint.  Your state law doesn't prevail a state you are traveling through... you abide by their laws and rules.  If you follow the law, you most likely won't have any problems going through other states.

  3. The law here states that a policeman has to be able to see well enough through the driver's window to see if he can recognize the driver.  That is why the back windows are often tinted a shade darker than the front window.  However, each state could have their own rules.  A reputable tinting shop would know those rules as you can take them to court for payment if you get a ticket as they are responsible for the tint

  4. I don't think you can tint the front side windows, or the front windshield.  But the back windows, and the rear window should be alright, since SUVs are like that.

  5. your best bet is go to the p. d. in your area and ask them, then when you do it , it all changes when you leave the home town.
