I want to transfer sony 8 tapes to my computer, I only have a yellow and red cord, no white will that work?

the yellow cord is video. the red is the right channel of audio, the white is the left channel of audio. it should be fine without the red if thats how the cord was made.

you would need to buy a card like this to connect it to your computer

but if you have a 4 pin firewire port on your camera that looks like this

then you can get a PCI firewire card and it should come with the cord to connect it to the camera too

you would also need some capture software. windows movie maker should work for what youre doing.

If it's a mono camera, which I suspect it is, then you will only have one audio cable.
