Im an african-british male, 17, i want to try and travel to Darfur this summer and help people.

anyone know a way i can go? or a group i can go with from the UK?

i dont want anything religious eg. Muslim Brothers or Christian Brothers as i dont think religion has anything to do with these things and that religion will only cause more complex problems.

  1. At 17 and unskilled, there's no place for you in Darfur right now. I don't even know of fee based volunteering services who are placing volunteers who pay a fee in Sudan right now. It's way too dangerous, and what's needed are highly-skilled volunteers who have a great deal of experience in developing countries and crisis situations.

If you want to help in Darfur, you could raise money for one of the organizations working there and/or start your own awareness campaign to make sure they know what the crisis is and how they can help (writing letters to their representatives demanding action, donating to organizations working there, etc.).

Darfur and Sudan-related questions are frequently asked, so you should look up both in the resolve questions section of Yahoo Answers Community service to get even more advice.

  2. To my knowledge, they are not letting aid groups into darfur.....nor peacekeepers at this time.....I personally use kidsworldwide.org b/c they are cheap and do a lot of good....but no one is going to send you to a war zone until the fighting is fully over. good luck!!

  4. Darfur may be hard to get into right now and is very dangerous at this time for foreigners.

You may want to try Malawi. It is extremely poverty stricken.
