  1. Forget Munich...it's too expensive over there and you'll get ripped off and really poor, only a few days of being there.

I advice you to go to Northern Germany, like Hamburg, Lüneburg, Stade or Celle - all beautiful and great places and not that expensive as Munich.

Cologne (Köln) or Berlin also would be another good alternative...but avoid Munich!

Here's a good tourist website for Germany:

    Greetings from Northern Germany...

  2. http://german.about.com/library/gallery/...

    you should visit berlin!

  3. I definetly recommend Bavaria and Munich--  yes, Munich is expensive, but there is so much to see and do there.   If you want to save a little money, try to stay in a suburb & then take the U-bahn (subway) or S-Bahn (commuter train) into the city.  I stayed at a small but nice hotel not far from the Hauptbahnhof, the Hotel Jedermann.  Not super fancy, but nice, clean, and relatively cheap.

My other favorite city/town is Garmisch-Partenkirchen, down in the Alps near the Austrian border.

I wouldn't miss some of the castles-- Neuschwanstein in particular.

As for some websites, check out this one-- it's got hotel/gasthof recommendations, trip reports, and lots of good info.  It was a big help when I planned my last trip:

Also, you might want to check out Rick Steves's site.  He covers all of Europe, but there's lots of good general info there:

  4. Germany is a beautiful country, but Hamburg was my favorite city of them all. Also, Hamburg is home to Sankt. Pauli, a large Red Light District (but that's not exclusively why I liked it). Visiting St. Pauli is what I recommend doing.

  5. You have to see Berlin, Hamburg and München

Also interesting is the Castle Neuschwanstein:

    or

    Europapark in Rust

Hope you´ll enjoin your trip and you´ll have fun...

another great city for tourists is Berlin. And with some time, you might go to Hamburg and Cologne as well.

  8. The Black Forest area is beautiful.  Lots of great little burgs to check out.  Landstuhl (near Ramstein AB) is nice little town to go to...has some good bars too!  :)
