You have to book train 6232 which leaves from Mysore -Bangalore to Mayiladuthurai.

From there, there are local trains as well as local buses ( plenty) available.

Book the train ticket in advance

At Chidambaram there are good hotels and the food is excellent.

Go to Google and ask for Hotels in Chidambaram.  You get budget, ec onomy hotels and the tariff
