For a hotel, it is difficult to recommend one since I do not know what exactly you are looking for (hostel, bed & breakfast...). One that would be a great choice is a Hotel Ibis ( http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/home/index.s... ). This is one of the largest French chains and are very affordable (79 Euros per night) and they have locations all over Paris.

Can't Miss:

- Eiffel Tower + Champs de Mars

- Arc de TRimphe + Champs Elysees + Place de la Concord

- Place Vendome

- Louvre Museum

- Avenue Montaigne (High End Shopping Street, Beautiful Architecture)

- Bateu Mouche

- Palais de Versailles (45 minutes away by Subway)

- Trocadero (Amazing view of the Eiffel Tower)

- Pont Alexandre 3 + Invalides

- Grand Palais + Petit Palais + Palais de la Decouverte (3 Amazing exhibition halls, all located together, by the Champs Elysees)

Less Known, but Worth doing:

- La Grande Arche + La Defense (Arch was built to celberate the 200th Anniversary of the revolution)

- Centre Pompidou (Host many different exposition, mainly 20th Century Art)

- Musee Chirac (aka Musee de Branly) (Beautiful Building by Jean Nouvel, Intersting Expo on Indigenous Arts)

- Palais de Tokyo (Conteporary Art)

- Jardin du Luxembbourg

- Jardin du Louvre

- The 'Marais' Area (is the Soho of Paris)

- DFepartment Store 'Printemps' and 'Galerie LaFayette' (are the two largest dept stores, 200m apart, and the interior of the buildings are amazing)

Also worth a try:

- Try riding a Veli'b (the new bicycle system)

- Parc-des-Prince PSG Soccer Game (See the Ambiance, if any)

- Flagship Stores on Champs Elysees (Toyota, Adidas, Renault, Louis Vuitton have the most inresting stores)
