  1. Buy/borrow a set of clubs.

Go to your local driving range and hit some balls for a week or so. If you like what you're doing - invest in a few lessons from the local golf instructor.

Then and only then start going to your local course - and I'm sure you will fall in love with our beautiful game.

  2. Find a golf store that sells used clubs and get a good set of irons, woods, and a putter.  This route will be a lot better than buying a starter set.  Then go to your local driving range and take a few lessons, until you have the hang of the game.  Get some playing partners and play your local courses.  It's a great game, I hope you enjoy it.

  3. You could go to a driving range, but you'll probably want to take a lesson or two before you hit the links.  If you have friends that play, you could ask them for advice.  Otherwise, I'd look into lessons for beginners.  Good luck!

  4. try a par 3 golf course this way you have the feeling that you are in every hole . everyone struggles in the beginning, so easing into it will lay a good foundation when you get out to a championship golf course. cleveland hibores or lots of use of hybrids will make the game fun.

  5. It depends on the injury you suffered at volleyball.  Golf requires a good bit of flexibility to be good at it.  But I would start at a local driving range that may have rental clubs, try hitting a small bucket of balls to see how it feels and maybe check into a lesson or two preferably with a PGA pro.  As far as equipment goes, it is always best to be fitted for clubs, but starting out with a halfway decent starter set is the way to go, it has almost all the clubs you need for about a 1/4 of the price of brand name clubs, and good cheap balls like top flite's D-2 line.  Also may want to look at the pga and the usga websites they have great info for begining golfers.
