  1. i think that you want an honest answer, so i'll give you one

you should definately do cross country; you will make a lot of friends and improve your fitness and health

you need to work hard though, but you probably know that. 730 isnt terrible; just know that varsity is going to be running 530s for a 5k, so no 730 isnt good enough for varsity. with time you might be able to get there

there is no secret to becoming a better runner: you have to run

  2. That time wouldn't be very good in track, but if you do that in cross country you could be a decent runner. Depending on if you are in middle school or high school the distance is different. I am sure you can get better with hard work and practice. Good Luck!!!!!!!!

  3. GO FOR IT!!!  CC is a sport that anyone can do, but not everyone is willing to do.  If you work hard this summer, you will bring that mile time down well into the 6 min. range.  You sound like you already have the will to do it, so don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it.  Stay motivated this summer and reach your potential

By the way, I have had runners who have went from running the mile in around 9 minutes as JH runners to making the Varsity and averaging under 7 for a 3 mile race.  If you work hard, you can make some amazing improvements.

    Good luck!!!

  4. well seeing as there are no tryouts for CC....Yes! you can make it!!! lol. But really if you want to get faster most HS train over the summer anyways. Talk to one of the guys that run to get dates of days they meet and where.

    Good luck and have fun!

  5. What grade are you in?

For high school that is pretty good, it sounds like you're keeping your pace good for the 5k.

If you're in middle school that is also really good.

You'll improve by a whole lot during the season.

On my first race I ran a 7:45 in one mile and on my last race I ran a 7:02.

When it comes to the races, you'll end up going a lot faster due to the fact that there are so many people there.

    Good Luck!

    :) xoxo

  6. Well, it depends what grade you are in.

I don't consider myself a good distance runner, and in 7th grade I ran about a 5:50 mile at best. Average for me wass about 6:22, bad wass about 6:50 or higher. We have an AMAZING cross country team, but it is non-cut. So go for it, work on your time, get to the track 5-6 days a week, and I would say that to make a 100-student team, you need about a 6:30 mile.

  7. thats fine for now you will initially improve A LOT once you start running 6 days a week (i like to take sunday off to recover and avoid burnout) your times make me think your a guy? if thats the case there is no reason you cant get those times down to 5:45 pace for the 5k. but also run outside! this time of the year its gorgeous outside and it wont hurt your knees as much as the treadmill. i like to run in the early morning to avoid the heat. also finding a safe running rout helps too, it will make running more enjoyable as well!
