I am a freshman and I workout every other day and drink protein shakes after my workouts. I have a really high metabolism. I don't have hops. I can only bench the bar. I am going to try out for my high school team and I can shoot really good but can't defend that good. I can drive but not on quick stronger kids. Everybody on the aau basketball team I wan't to try out for are tall and strong. What should I do becuase their tryouts are in november? No silly answers please.

  1. hey

well right from your question i didnt want to read it b/c you were putting yourself down..

    dont do that

well anyway you can make it if you really put your mind into it. like really start bench pressing and its ok if your a little smaller you will grow and who know you could be like 6'.... just keep working pn your weaknesses and on your determination and attitude and especially your focus and your basketball skills and im sure that you will make the team

to helo you out on the jouney you should get a basketball tranier.... so google velocity sports its a training facilty and fetures the nike sparx training program....

also play more pick up ball and street ball it will help you get use to playing with kids that are bigger than you....

i hoped i really helped and keep your head up

p.s. how old are you b/c if your only in middle school you will definately grow

  2. I don't think you should drink protein shakes and if your small you shouldn't lift weights for some time

Work  on dribble and even if your slower than the other guards work on your agility and change directions i know that if you can change direction alot like tony parker or allen iverson you can still drive, work on your floaters, i am a small forward and i score half my points on aau last year through these

on defence try to push up on the other guards and get steals because that is the smaller players advantage

make sure you work on these and your conditioning and even if you don't make it you work on it for a whole nother year until you do make it

btw i didn't make it for my school team in november but practiced all winter and made a an aau team in February that could whoop my school team, i also played as a key scorer so you still have the time to improve

  3. I used to be the same way. First, if you know your a good shooter, you need to shoot when you can, but not every time you touch the ball.  Coaches always notice someone who makes good decisions.  You also need to go into the tryout knowing that you are the best player in the gym.  Don't be afraid to make a mistake, and if you do, don't dwell on it.  as long as you give 100% and make your lay-ups you should be able to make the team.

  4. hahaha are you trying to make us laugh or what? sorry, i dont see how you can make a basketball team at 5'4'' 95 lbs, no hops, and can only bench, what, 35 pounds? seriously.

wait around for your growth spurt to catch up with everybody else and come back around next year.

being able to shoot well wont necessarily get you on the team for sure, unless your team plays really close games all the time and the coach needs you to hit a clutch shot or something. but theres h**l to pay if you miss, so..

    good luck

  5. My god, if you want to join, you're going to have to do ALOT better than that. You don't have hops to make up for your height, you don't have strength to make up for your lightness, and on top of all that you can't defend?

Grow a few inches, gain half your current weight, JUMP, and bench your current weight with ease, then come back next year.

  6. i understand the short thing. To be honest i think if you can make yourself get noticed you can make the team. Work really hard during tryouts and make the coach notice you. Dont worry about other people just worry about yourself. Nate robinson faces people twice his size, and if u put ur mind to it im sure you can 2

  7. keep working out and doing what you're doing, and tryout for the team. If you don't make it you can play on either a rec team or church team until you grow and have a better shot at making the team. definitely keep working out/ practicing.
