  1. just go outside and try the basics, passing, setting, and if you can find someone to set you up then hit the ball to. practice makes perfect. you can also find a coach or volleyball director and they can set you up with private lessons to get you started on volleyball. then go to a tryout for a local team and hope for the best`!!!

  2. omg......this year the same thing happened to me! I tried out just for fun cuz i knew i wont make the team cuz i didn't know ANYTHING about Volleyball. So i go to the try-outs with my friends and to my surprise, the coach picked me to be in the team! None of my friends were picked. I was so lonely the whole season and plus i was the inexperienced player. I learned many things though. You know i think you should tryout and do your best. If you make the impression on your coach that after a little help you can be good, you will get in. If you don't get picked, don't worry. Hey, there's nothing wrong with trying! and you'll get a little experience! Just have fun out there and don't worry!

  3. umm im on the volleyball team but if u have no experience at all u probadly wont make it first go to a volleyball camp and get pretty good the best sectret is if u can get 90% accuracy serving the ball and getting it over the net and in bounce u have a much better chance of making the teen

  4. Start with Research.

Read about the game and how its played, learn the rules,  basic systems, court positioning, and terminology.

Read about the skills involved, get an idea of how to do them before you ask someone to help you.  The more keen you are the more they will want to help you.

Buy indoor court shoes and knee pads.  To play defence properly you have to wear knee pads.

Find a gym or rec centre in your town that has open gym for volleyball, or ask the players in a league if they know of anyone in the area that runs clinics.

Have patience when practicing.  Volleyball skills are very technical, and require a lot more practice to improve.

    Good Luck

  5. you should find a gym or rec center where you could practice and where there are people there who can help you with it.

before you tryout...join another thing where a coach will be there to help you everything!

    :] goodluck

  6. I didn't know anything either.

    Maybe try searching google.

You might not make it if you don't know anything, but if you're lucky and you have natural talent you might. Maybe when you try out try watching other people who are trying out. Ask the coaches if you can't figure anything else out.

  7. go to a skills camp, or something relative. even ask the coach to give you some pointers to get better

  8. You should look it up on the web and watch video's of games. I played volleyball for a couple of years it is very fun and easy to learn. You picked a great sport to play . good luck to you , have fun.

  9. go to tryouts!!!!!! even if you dont know what your doing, you'll be ready for next year and you'll know what to expect.

you might ever make it....but if you dont, practice until next years tryouts. join league/club teams and play with other vball players especially the ones on your school's team. you can also be a team manager.

  10. Look up the rules on the net then sign up and have fun its an easy sport to learn and fun to play.  A web site i found is www.volleyball.org/rules

  11. Give it a try.

As has been suggested, you can research the game but it is more fun to watch games and see what happens.  If you are starting out, go to a jr. high or a hich school and see what they are doing.  If you watch something on TV, you will be excited at the level but disappointed with your own progress.  Get a police record check and volunteer to work with a team just being there.  You will learn and probably get an opportunity to practice and learn with the rest of the kids.

I coach a jr. high boys team and have taken in a few people that don't know anything about the game and have spent more time with them and have seen great progess.  I never played before and just started in grade 7...went on to play for 7 years of competitive play on the first string.

  12. dont take this in a bad way, but dont try out. there is always next year, right?

i learned everything i know about volleyball doing a summer camp, or maybe a neighbor might be able to help you (if there is one near by that plays) also maybe just talk to the coach about it, see if they have any suggestions.

    hope i helped...

  13. Find someone who knows about volleyball and have them work with you. mabey they can help you out, but if not use this.........This website has tips and rules for the game!! Good luck!

  15. Learn as much as you can about it and then give it a go. You have nothing to lose right?

You can read about the basics or watch some videos to get a feel for the key skills and strategies of the game.  To get the most out of volleyball and the most enjoyment, you need to really appreciate the skills, athleticism and team work involved in the sport.
