  1. If you have an original windows xp service pack 2 it might be okay to upgrade but it will be risky if you upgrade via those windows xp sp3 packs. I have upgraded my windows xp sp2 by double clicking on an xp sp3 pack and my computer crashed, and I cant even restore it via last known good configuration or those via Safe Mode Methods. So the biggest lesson I learned is that: When my Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 works well, I should have stick with it because it was not worth all the trouble I went through restoring the same. and besides the upgrades you will get from SP3 is not that really significant, just a few bugs reduced.

So if you are in doubt, DO NOT UPGRADE. (and if ever you will be tempted, back-up all your files first)

  2. heck no!! Go Right ahead. it won't bug your system a bit. (no pun intended)

  3. The current SP3 has the Intel/AMD bug corrected.  Download it (don't use a previously downloaded version of SP3) and install it.
